Album cover blurb by JOHN HIRT in 1973
I think you have to live with an album for a while to really get what’s it at…. or at least that’s what I thought until hearing this L.P.
This album’s spinal chord is large and as obvious as a museum’s skeleton. Three Australian guys called FAMILY have hit hard with their inner beliefs and the result is “sweet music”. “Sweet” because I like what they stand for and sing about. But also ‘sweet’ when their brilliant harmony is objectively considered.
“We sing about Jesus”, simply said by Ian Truscott of FAMILY one night on my radio programme. After you’ve listened to this album your heart warms to the strength of that statement.
There’s the incredible feeling that FAMILY have something to share, and it’s more than just their musical ability. Vibrations fling themselves from this album, there’s no warming-up time. If it’s the message I dig most, you might excuse me, but that’s how I feel, and that’s how I want to accept this album.
However, for those who want most to enjoy “sweet sounds” and perfect pitch harmony, FAMILY turn on to their best efforts yet in these tracks.
Whatever your motivation to sample this album - you will be motivated! FAMILY leave you no other choice.
